Cutting Tool Reconditioning

Worn or blunt cutting tools are inefficient, cause sub standard surface finishes and are at risk of breaking during the metal cutting process. In the latter case, at best, the cutting tool is lost. Often, however, the manufactured part can be compromised and possibly scrapped. Such losses of work in progress can bear significant costs to the manufacturer.

Regular and early maintenance of cutting tools can significantly prolong their useful life, reduce manufacturing costs and produce better surface finishes on manufactured parts.

µtech is committed to providing fast, accurate and high quality sharpening services to the metal cutting industries. Our customers can choose between standard µtech re-conditioning geometry and selected OEM cutting tool geometries.

To order tool reconditioning services, please call us or send us a completed Order Form via fax, email or mail. Please ensure accurate contact and job details to enable us to attend to your order without delay.

Special Tool Manufacture

Metal cutting processes often consist of many individual metal cutting operations. These generally require many different cutting tools with as many unproductive tool changes to complete the job.

In medium to high volume processes, such unproductive change overs can contribute significantly to total manufacturing costs. It is often possible, however, to combine many of these operations into a single operation by applying a purpose designed cutting tool. Such cutting tools can produce several if not all the features of the part geometry in a single pass.

µtech welcomes requests from our customers for the design and manufacture of such specialised cutting tools. We will work with your manufacturing, design and production engineers to identify opportunities for cutting tool rationalisation.

Grinding Software Development

Cutting tools generally possess complex geometries. It can be very challenging and sometimes impossible for the layman to program their CNC machines to generate the desired geometries.

µtech's founders have over 25 years of industry experience in cutting tool modelling, grinding path development and CNC programing.
